We love our oceans! That is why we have committed to donating a portion of every sale directly to marine conservation projects around the world. We are also committed to ensuring that our products and our processes are as sustainable as possible.

Your rashguard is made from...fishing nets?!

Every Molidae Design rashguard is made with fabric that contains ECONYL® fiber,
 a 100% regenerated nylon yarn that is made from discarded fishing nets which pose a major threat to marine life. In addition to fishing nets, other waste such as fabric scraps from mills and carpets destined for the landfill are included in the ECONYL® process. Like all nylon, ECONYL® fiber is infinitely recyclable and provides infinite possibilities for future Molidae Design products!

The ECONYL® process reduces the climate change impact of nylon by up to 80% compared with the material from oil.

For every 10,000 pounds of ECONYL® raw material generated, the process saves approximately 70,000 barrels of crude oil and will avoid over 57,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. 

Our Conservation Partners

Molidae Design is a proud partner of the "Healthy Seas, a journey from waste to wear" initiative, an organization that is dedicated to removing dangerous, abandoned fishing nets, also known as ghost nets, from the oceans. Every year, millions of animals are killed - including whales, sharks, seals, turtles and birds - by ghost gear entanglement. Abandoned gear is truly a global crisis that is impacting every ocean on the planet.

 

 

 

 

 

But there is hope!
Since 2013, Healthy Seas has removed over 450 tons on fishing gear! That's the equivalent weight of three blue whales! Healthy Seas works with teams of volunteer divers, salvage companies, fishermen, and fish farms to remove the hazardous equipment. Once collected, the fishing nets are processed and regenerated into the ECONYL® fiber that is contained in the fabric used for all Molidae Rashguards.
